Frequently asked questions

Product

What is Lynx?

Lynx is a MagSafe-compatible smartphone accessory that combines a cellular signal amplifier, extra battery support, and wireless charging in one sleek device.

How is Lynx different from other connectivity devices?

Lynx is portable and MagSafe compatible. Most traditional systems require installation, cables, or fixed equipment. Lynx links magnetically to your MagSafe smartphone and goes with you.

Does Lynx require an app or subscription?

No. Lynx works automatically with no app, setup, or subscription required.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Link Lynx to your MagSafe smartphone or compatible case, raise the antenna when you want to engage amplifier mode, and use wireless power support when needed.

Technology

How does Lynx amplify cellular signal?

Lynx uses a larger external antenna and internal RF amplifier technology to help your phone receive your provider’s cellular signal more effectively. The amplified downlink signal is coupled into the phone’s antenna system so the phone sees a stronger signal from the tower.

How can I test the Mjoose Lynx to see my phones signal strength?

To see the dBm signal strength of your smartphone, follow the steps below:

iPhone
1. Make sure Wifi is turned off.
2. Dial *3001#12345#* and press call.
3. You are now in Field Test Mode. The signal strength will display as a negative dbm (decibels-milliwatt) number instead of dots/bars. This is a more precise reading of the signal strength on your device.

Android
1. Go to “Settings” > “About Phone”, and your numerical signal strength will be available under either “Network” or “Status”, depending on the model of your device.

How can I tell that the mJoose signal amplifier is working?

A useful way to think about improvement is:

RSRP improvement = RSRP with amplifier − RSRP without amplifier

For example:
Phone alone: −112 dBm
With Lynx: −97 dBm
Improvement: +15 dB

That’s a substantial improvement. Because dB is logarithmic, a +10 dB increase represents about 10× the received reference-signal power, while +15 dB is about 31.6×.

In the decibel scale, an increase of 3 dB equates to signal that is twice as strong. A 10 dB gain corresponds to a 10 times increase, 20 dB and 30 dB gain mean 100 and 1000 times increase.

Does Lynx replace my provider?

No. Your provider still powers the network. Lynx helps your phone connect more effectively to your provider’s cellular signal.

Does Lynx create service where there is no provider signal?

No. Lynx is designed for weak-signal areas, not no-signal areas. If there is no usable provider signal, Lynx cannot create a connection on its own.

When I slide up the mJoose Lynx antenna what type of boost do I gain?

When you slide up the mJoose Lynx antenna it will likely boost your cell signal by 10x to 100x! (10 to 20dB)

Will Lynx work indoors or in rural areas?

Yes. Lynx is engineered to help in buildings, vehicles, rural areas, and other weak-signal conditions where your phone can still detect your provider’s cellular signal.

Power

Does Lynx charge my phone?

Yes. Lynx provides wireless charging support with Fast Wireless Charging – Up to 15W.

How much extra battery life does Lynx provide?

The integrated battery can add an additional 60% to 100% charge, depending on phone model and usage.

What is the battery size?

Lynx includes a Li-ion Polymer battery rated at 9.62Wh, 2600mAh.

How do I charge Lynx?

Use USB-C or a compatible MagSafe charger. Lynx also supports pass-through charging so the phone and device can charge together.

Safety

Does Lynx help reduce radiation exposure?

Yes. Under tested conditions, Lynx helps reduce radiation exposure by 40% to 75%.

How does Lynx help reduce radiation exposure?

When your phone struggles to maintain cellular signal, it may operate at higher power levels. Lynx helps your phone receive your provider’s cellular signal more effectively, which can reduce the need for the phone to operate at higher power levels in weak-signal conditions.

Compatibility

What cellular bands does Lynx support?

Lynx supports 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G bands for the North American market, including bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 17, 25, and 66 across AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and most North American networks. Current exceptions include bands 30 and 41.
